Finding Stillness

IMG_0929

If water derives lucidity from stillness, how much more the faculties of the mind! The mind of the sage, being in repose,
becomes the mirror of the universe, the speculum of all creation.
Chuang Tzu

Coming back from the high Sierra’s I felt a overwhelmed by the busyness around me. Especially, when I went to the gym that first morning with 14 televisions going full blast, each with a different perspective on the world, except for one common element, they all wanted me to buy something. But, what my soul craves is to be in that still place I savor in nature… We all seem to be suffering from Nature Deficit Disorder. Perhaps a walk in nature today would still our busy minds. If not that, let’s take three deep breaths together right now… Can you feel the heartbeat of the earth? She is breathing us. Let go and let her do her work.

Blessings,
Michael

Blossoming

IMG_1123
Nature supports our personal blossoming (if we have any quiet exposure to her) through her spontaneities, through her beauty, power, and mirroring, through her dazzling variety of species and habitats, and by way of the wind, Moon, Sun, stars, and galaxies.
Bill Plotkin (who will be on Conversations on KVMR next week)

Is the flower of your heart opening right now. Perhaps it is time to take a nature break and remember what is really important. When we take time in nature we realize that we are nature. That we are being breathed by natural forces, that our personal cycles are aligned and impacted by hers, and that there is a greater intelligence at work here that we can fully surrender to… This allows to realign our priorities and recommit to our life purpose…

Wishing you a day filled with Love, peace and inspiration…

Evolutionary Compassion

CIMG0161
“The human being is that space in which the comprehensive compassion that pervades the universe from the very beginning now begins to surface –within consciousness.(As compared with the natural displays of compassion by other creatures that is not necessarily ‘within consciousness.’) That’s the only difference.  We didn’t create compassion, but it’s flowing through us-or it could. The phase change that we’re in seems, to me, to depend upon that comprehensive compassion unfurling in the human species.”
Brian Swimme, coauthor with Thomas Berry of The Universe Story

We are on the brink of a collective breakthrough in the evolution of consciousness. What allows for that breakthrough is that we have become aware of being aware and we are realizing that we have the power of choice. It is this conscious choice that will determine if we are to have an evolutionary bounce or crash. Having taken hold of the reins of the beast we must now train him to use this power with wisdom and compassion. How will you train the beast today? Do you realize that the reins are in your hands? How will you let compassion flow through you today? Let’s choose this life affirming power of conscious compassion today…

May our hearts melt open in the fires of our deep compassion…

Story Blossoms

CIMG0172
If you’ve heard this story before, don’t stop me, because I’d like to hear it again.
Groucho Marx

Ever notice how the stories we tell and the ones that continually replay in our heads emanate from a relatively small number of themes, like “not enough…”, “searching for love…”, “life is hard…”? Not all stories are negative — what’s important is to be aware of the stories we are telling with our lives. One of the reasons I love moving meditation is that it brings up our current story and leaves us with a choice of whether to act out that story or choose a new, perhaps more life affirming one. I invite you to explore your story today. What is it and how is it shaping my actions, my conversations and my life? If you were the author of your own destiny, which you are, what is the story you would begin writing right now, with this breath. This morning at Sweat Your Prayers we will be exploring our stories in movement…

May you life fully into your soul’s story,
michael

beyond duality

CIMG0494
Out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing is a field. I’ll meet you there.
Rumi
There is a tendency to sort and categorize everything and everyone. We often put people and things in boxes of right/wrong, good/bad, worthy/not worthy, all of which are based on our past experience. As we quiet the mind we begin to see the continuum between our inner world and our perception of outer reality. On closer inspection we begin to see the interconnection of all life. A simple practice is to catch our judgments, projections and perceptions and say “I am that”. If we really explore the I in the other we will begin to sow the seeds of peace and joy. Try it today. Let’s break down the walls of separation and step into to the field of pure love and compassion.

Blessings on your day.

Love & Truth

IMG_0287Your ability to feel love is directly proportional to your ability to tell
the complete truth.  The more truth you have in your life, the more love you
will experience. Honest relationships with direct and effective communication
are a source of increasing love and self-esteem.

John Gray

May the light of love be filled with the truth of your heart today. Isn’t it the authentic self of anyone that we fall in love with. To find my most authentic self, I go to my body. For me that is an essential part of moving meditation. Part of my personal practice in the dance is to keep repeating the question or mantra, “What is true right now”. I invite you to join me today in engaging in that question…

Love and Blessings,
michael

Self Connection

IMG_1120
Ultimately, what we are looking to is the deepest connection within ourselves.
As we get more connected to that, we begin to feel in harmony with other people and with the rest of the world.
Shakti Gawain

How do we connect with ourselves in the escalating pace of our daily lives? It is by going to the natural world that we discover our relationship to all life. Let’s take a deep breath and feel our connection to life as it moves upwards from the feet, inward through the breath and outward through the heart… May you recognize the connections around and within on this beautiful day.

Blessings,
michael

and DJ Divine, Michael Stone

October 31-November 1st, 2009

Saturday 10:30am-6pm, Sunday 1pm-6pm

By way of love, by way of attunement,
by way of connection with the undying
spirit that lives and breathes
and moves in all that is,
past/present/future,

this weekend is devoted to venturing further into
experiencing the meeting of the visible
and invisible worlds and dissolving
the veils that appear to separate us.

Through dance invocations, tonal incantations,
through song, writing and full-bodied
prayer we will cross
over again and again

offering our bodies and voices
as vehicles to honor our dead ancestors
and to journey all the way to communion
with ‘that which never dies’.

Being Light

IMG_1023

You are a system of Light, as are all beings.
The frequency of your Light depends upon your consciousness.
When you shift your level of consciousness, you shift the frequency of your Light.
Gary Zukav (will be on Conversations today at 1pm pst)

So how do we shift our conscious to enhance the frequency of our light. It’s easy, we just have to give up being right. When we forgive someone who we feel has wronged us, when we express our gratitude for something or someone who has touched us with their contribution, when we choose connection over separation — these are the ways in which we increase the frequency of our Light.

Wishing you a day filled with Light and Love,
michael
