Through our own recovered innocence we discern the innocence of our neighbors.
Henry David Thoreau
Spending 2 weeks with a 2 year old has left me curious about innocence. What is it to be innocent? The two definitions that most resonate with me are (1) Freedom from guile, cunning, or deceit; simplicity or artlessness and (2) Freedom from harmfulness; inoffensiveness. It seem that much of our original innocence is lost as we build our identity and separate our selves from others and the world of nature. Can we rediscover how to not know? Can we bring a sense of awe and wonder to ever interaction, cultivating a beginner’s mind? This seems to me to be a path to real freedom and ultimately love for all life. I hope you will join us this Sunday as we explore the mystery of innocence in movement in our local Sweat Your Prayers. If you are not close I invite you to explore the question of innocence in any activity in which you are engaged…
Great Blessings,
michael
