On Suffering

IMG_0894You know quite well, deep within you, that there is only a single magic, a single power, a single salvation…and that is called loving. Well, then, love your suffering. Do not resist it, do not flee from it. It is your aversion that hurts, nothing else.
Hermann Hesse

For some time I have been suffering with computer breakdowns. This morning I remembered my teacher, Christine Price saying, “pain is inevitable but suffering is a choice”. Today I am loving my computer breakdowns and asking my self what is this teaching me? How can I grow from this? That and a deep breath brought me back into a state of gratitude and appreciation for this precious gift called life. Wishing you a most mysterious and magnificent day filled with love and gratitude.

Great Blessings,
michael

Yes I am with you here. Congrats on flying solo with this post!

  • Thanks, Michael, for sharing that beautiful quote.
I love your new newsletter and blog!

It’s so true that we can just remember to choose peace,
love and happiness, no matter what is going on outside of us.
One of our ongoing lessons…in each moment.

It also reminds me of the Rumi quote:
“Your task is not to seek for love,
but merely to seek and find all the barriers
within yourself that you have built against it.”
And, I would add, realize they are illusions…
Just return to love, over and over.

Hope your computer behaves better for you &
I’m glad you turned it into a learning opportunity! :)

Herman Hesse’s novel NARCISUSS AND GOLDMUND is my all time favorite book.. first read it when I was 13 years old.. have read it at least 100 times since… spiritual love for another human being and God entwined with the gems of artistry and the pangs of suffering and searching…

thanks, Michael, for quoting Mr. Hesse…
